MEP visit boosts local campaign

Chafford Liberal Democrats campaign received a boost over the weekend when Andrew Duff, the party's Member of the European Parliament called to shore up support. He was seen canvassing in North Stifford and other parts of Chafford Hundred where the Liberal Democrats are expecting to regain the seat they lost in 2004.

Thurrock is a lovely place to live and work. Liberal Democrats want to make it more attractive to indviduals, families, professionals and thriving businesses. However there are serious inadequacies with respect to the strategic planning for appropriate infrastructural development and essential services for existing residents and the impending housing expansion and accompanying population growth in the area.

Council Tax Hitting The Vulnerable With Three Million Poor Families Paying Too Much

Thurrock Liberal Democrats are renewing their campaign calling for council tax to be scrapped council and replaced with a tax based on a person's ability to pay, to avoid the need for complex means-tested benefits like Council Tax Benefit (CTB).

Labour's failure to combat fuel poverty hits Thurrock's pensioners

Thurrock Liberal Democrats are calling on the Government to protect pensioners in Thurrock from energy price rises. This comes after figures showed that recent increases in the cost of electricity and gas are set to wipe out pensioners' winter fuel payment.
